MOONDANCE RECOMMENDS:

~ March 8th ~

GET READY FOR A DAY WITHOUT WOMEN!
For women, femmes, and allies:

Women around the world are getting ready to strike. As International Women’s Day on March 8th grows closer, grassroots feminist organizations have called for a one-day strike. Organizers are calling for women to stop working in whatever ways they can. And if they can’t? Women can wear red in solidarity.

When you ban refugees, this is who you’re hurting. In honor of Women’s History Month, the Huffington Post rounded up 100 years of women refugees as a reminder of who the Trump administration’s dangerous anti-refugee rhetoric hurts most.

IF THE EPA IS FORCED TO SIT ON ITS HANDS,
CITIZENS WILL GET TO THEIR FEET!

The US Senate confirmed Trump’s candidate, Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, as the new administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Pruitt has long been the best friend to the fossil fuel industry—he regularly puts the interests of polluters over public health and the environment, while also denying climate change and global warming.

Scott Pruitt’s confirmation as EPA administrator leaves little doubt that the GOP Congress and the Trump administration intend to weaken, if not paralyze or eliminate altogether, the nation’s environmental rules and regulations. But states, governments, and the EPA aren’t the only ones who have power to protect the environment. The nation’s environmental statutes have citizen suit provisions such that aggrieved citizens can bring enforcement actions—essentially stepping into the shoes of the federal government. Citizens can sue polluters for violating the environmental standards that apply to them, and expose any kind of corruption or self-dealing or secrecy.

States, the Feds, and the EPA aren’t the only ones who have power to protect our environment! CITIZENS CAN TAKE ACTION, TOO.

SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:

“As wise women and men in every culture tell us: the art of life is not in controlling what happens to us, but in using what happens to us.” ~ Gloria Steinem

“Loving yourself first is not about showing off or navel-gazing or self-aggrandizing. It’s about listening to your needs, protecting yourself with healthy boundaries, not attacking yourself with barbed words, giving yourself plenty of quiet pat on the backs for jobs well done, giving yourself space when you need it, treating yourself like you would your best friend and not working yourself into an early grave.” ~ Lou Hamilton

Buster Keaton

“Before we set our hearts too much upon anything, let us examine how happy those are who already possess it.” ~ Francois de la Rochefoucauld
