NEWS FLASH! SCREENWRITER VS. GOLIATH: Two strangers knocked on Moondance screenwriter PJ McIlvaine’s door recently and informed her, in front of her children, that 20th Century Fox was suing her for $15 million dollars. This was the first contact PJ had from 20th Century Fox regarding an online script library she created — and was the day 20th Century Fox filed a law suit against PJ in federal court for fifteen million dollars. She had collected scripts she found [already] posted online and placed them in an online library on a Media Fire web page and made those scripts available to other screenwriters. Free of charge. As an educational tool.
•She doesn’t sell advertising. •She doesn’t charge a membership fee. •She doesn’t sell the material. •She makes it available to other screenwriters for free. •She posts scripts for educational purposes only. •She only posts scripts already available on other sites online. (excerpted from “celluloid blonde” )–PJ is a long-time friend of Moondance and a talented screenwriter!
ON THE JAPAN EARTHQUAKE, TSUNAMI & NUCLEAR PERIL: “My thoughts for comfort go out to Japan, and to all who are in harm’s way. We await further developments about the perilous state of the nuclear reactors. How far is safe, in this day and age? Is there any such thing as safe anymore? It is possible that what humans have wrought–the peril we have put ourselves in–seems infinitely worse than anything nature could do to us. Why must we learn to escape ourselves? How will we do such a thing? This is a time to pause, to offer prayer, wishes, thoughts–and to discover in ourselves, and honor, a new dimension of heartsickness.” –Dominique Browning, Slow Love Life blog, March 14, 2011

“This is a nicely run film festival. I was honored to be among the 2008 winners. I met people from all over the world who are involved in filmmaking. I’ll be entering this one again. Thanks, Moondance!” – Becky McMillen
“All my prayers and blessings are always with you ~ you’ve got a festival with works that raise the consciousness of humanity ~” – Moniere (filmmaker, Afghanistan)

“My good news: I mailed a CD of my music to the the Royal Family in the UK, and someone from the palace called me last week. They are going to play my music for the kids!” – Steve Wilheim (Moondance 2010 film score winner)
“This script was developed at a Sundance Screenwriters Retreat, and I am sure that the later (2007 finalist) placing in the Moondance Contest caused many people to take special notice of the project.” – Tom Basham, (feature film: “Bright Lights & Promises”, a ‘bluesical’ with all Janis Ian songs)
“I’ve posted a link to my 7-minute short film, “Interpretation”. The film was an official selection at 76 film festivals in 2009-2010 and ended up winning 24 of them. It was my first short film and a fun learning experience! Hope you enjoy it.” – Lin Oeding http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ayS8SqIqbg
*“Interpretation” won the 2009 Moondance Columbine Award!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY:
“The goal isn’t to live forever; the goal is to create something that will.” – Chuck Palahniuk
“…think about what happens when words are used as weapons, and weapons are used in place of words.” – Timothy Egan, New York Times article “Tombstone Politics”, January 9, 2011, responding to the shooting of Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords
“You are the point of impact for thousands, potentially millions of people. Whether or not you see it, your soul is tied to other souls, and on and on and on it goes. Today, set an intention of using your words and actions to impact at least one person. This is how we change the world.” – Yehuda Berg, The Kabbalah Centre International
“I would rather think of life as a good book. The further you get into it, the more it begins to come together and make sense.” – Rabbi Harold Kusher
“Do your work with your whole heart, and you will succeed, because there is so little competition.” – Elbert Hubbard
If of thy worldly goods thou art bereft. . .
And to thee alone two loaves are left,
Sell one, and with the dole
Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul. ~ Rumi
